Chana falls by 0.68% on lower demand

Chana prices traded lower by 0.68 per cent on Friday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as the traders offloaded their holdings in the commodity on account of the weak demand in the market. Moreover, the excess arrivals of the commodity in the physical market also influenced the chana prices. India is the largest producer of chickpea followed by Pakistan, Turkey and Iran. At the NCDEX, chana futures for June 2014 contract were trading at Rs. 2,922 per quintal, up by 0.68 per cent, after opening at Rs. 2,938 against the previous closing price of Rs. 2,942. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 2,898. (At 3.51 PM today)
