M-cap of top 7 Sensex companies dips Rs 24,783.44 cr

The market capitalization of top seven Sensex companies fell by a combined Rs 24,783.44 crore as investors shunned equities amid weak global cues as geopolitical concerns heightened amid the crisis in Ukraine and the Middle East, dimming the appeal of risky assets such as equities. While TCS, ITC, Coal India, HDFC Bank, SBI and HDFC were among the losers, ONGC, RIL and Infosys witnessed a rise in their market value last week. The market value of India’s largest IT services exporter TCS fell by Rs 7,923.05 crore to Rs 484,981.05 crore last week. Private sector banking major HDFC Bank witnessed a dip of Rs 4,568.76 crore in its market value to Rs 191,984.31 crore last week. The market value of Coal India Limited fell by Rs 2,873.95 crore to Rs 224,167.77 crore last week while that of HDFC fell by Rs 2,068.37 crore to Rs 160,807.55 crore. India’s largest lender, the State Bank of India (SBI) witnessed a dip of Rs 1,802.97 crore in its market value to Rs 180,316.07 crore last week. However, the market value of IT major Infosys surged by Rs 8,039.3 crore to Rs 199,854.28 crore last week while that of oil major ONGC grew Rs 6,758.83 crore at Rs 337,214.64 crore.
