The key domestic benchmarks are tipped to open higher today tracking a mostly positive trend across Asian markets. Most Asian markets rose as geopolitical concerns abated amid easing fears over the crisis surrounding Ukraine, supporting buying appetite in risky assets. Foreign Ministers of Ukraine and Russia will begin talks in Berlin in a bid to put an end to the conflict while the US deepened air strikes against the Islamic State in Iraq over the weekend to help Iraq regain control of the country’s largest dam in Mosul. China’s Shanghai Composite was trading higher amid hopes that the country may boost stimulus after last week’s data showed a deeper credit slowdown. Hang Seng was trading lower while Japan’s Nikkei 225 posted slim gains.

Back home, global cues amid the situation in Iraq and Ukraine will determine the outcome of the direction of markets this week. Markets may also be supported by the outcome of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech on Independence Day where he outlined his economic agenda including a call to global businesses to make India their manufacturing base and launching a financial inclusion program for poor families.
