Oil Minister urges OMCs to aggressively contribute in social welfare

The Minister of state for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday called upon the Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) to contribute to the welfare of the society in a large measure. Speaking on the occasion of ‘Indian Oil Day’ here, Pradhan congratulated Indian Oil Corporation Limited for contributing in the nation’s development, and having the largest customer base in the world in the sector. He said the ‘retail to refinery’ company has really grown in size and diversity in the recent years, and now it should focus on touching the lives of common man in an effective manner. He said the company should involve stakeholders in its growth, and undertake initiatives for the well-being of the common man. Pradhan said that there is an Indian tradition of sharing with the deprived sections of the society, and the Indian Oil Corporation should also work in the same spirit. Lauding its various initiatives, he said the Company should utilize its CSR funds in a constructive manner. The Minister also called upon the Company to undertake cost-cutting, and get ready for future competition.
