Pre Session- Sensex to open lower on weak Asian cues
04/09/2014 08:28
The key domestic benchmarks are likely to open lower today tracking a weak trend across Asia as investors stayed on the sidelines ahead of the policy meet of the Bank of Japan (BOJ) and the European Central Bank (ECB) today, with the ECB tipped to take further action to stem deflation and revive the 18-member Euro area economy. China’s Shanghai Composite and Hang Seng were trading in the red amid caution ahead of key global monetary policy decisions. Japan’s Nikkei 225 fell ahead of the BOJ decision.
Back home, the record rally at Dalal Street which has seen the Sensex and Nifty surge to new highs in recent days may give way to some profit booking. A weaker monsoon may crimp agricultural output and stoke food inflation, hurting the economy. The Met Department on Wednesday said that the annual monsoon is 15 per cent weaker than the 50-year average.
Top traded Volumes on NSE Nifty – Bharti Airtel Ltd. 12312188.00, Hindalco Industries Ltd. 8545333.00, Tata Power Company Ltd. 8421318.00, DLF Ltd. 7597803.00 and Tata Motors Ltd. 7316875.00.
