Sensex opens lower, led by Consumer goods stocks

The Indian benchmark was trading in red in the early session of day's trade. Consumer Goods sector stocks were on the decline with ABB India leading the pack followed by Thermax, Crompton Greaves, Suzlon and Bharat Electronics. At 9:33AM BSE SENSEX was at 26102.79 down by -44.54 points or by -0.17 per cent and then NSE Nifty was at 7780.35 down by -15.4 points or by -0.2 per cent.
The BSE MIDCAP was at 9289.42 down by -22.3 points or by -0.24 per cent. while the BSE SMLCAP was at 10178.06 down by -26.12 points or by -0.26 per cent
The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 1471 , shares advanced were 653 while 760 shares declined and 58 were unchanged
The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 577.00,+1.34 per cent), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 558.50,+0.64 per cent), Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 194.30,+0.62 per cent), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 2504.25,+0.61 per cent), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 407.05,+0.48 per cent), among others.
The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 432.65,-1.31 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 479.10,-0.97 per cent), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 1642.00,-0.78 per cent), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1495.00,-0.72 per cent), Sesa Sterlite Ltd. (Rs. 293.65,-0.59 per cent), among others.
