Sensex down amid profit booking

The Indian markets continue to erase losses in the later morning trade session. IT stocks are going strong with the rupee at 59.03 per dollar levels. In the Asian markets, Japan's Nikkei share average climbed to a fresh seven-week high on Tuesday, extending gains into a fourth day as recent upbeat Chinese and US data continued to lift investors' risk appetite.

At 11:24AM BSE SENSEX was at 24576.06 down by -140.82 points or by -0.57 per cent and then NSE Nifty was at 7297.15 down by -61.9 points or by -0.84 per cent. The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 1570.20,+1.68%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 3145.80,+1.68%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 512.75,+1.63%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 2311.20,+0.44%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2162.95,+0.43%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 384.00,-6.35%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 248.60,-4.16%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1191.35,-3.17%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 395.00,-2.53%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 152.80,-2.27%), among others.

The top gainers of the NSE Nifty pack were HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1413.65,+1.98%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 3144.30,+1.60%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 512.80,+1.34%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 2265.00,+1.28%), Lupin Ltd. (Rs. 918.80,+1.03%), among others.

The top losers of the NSE Nifty pack were GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 383.90,-6.40%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 246.90,-4.73%), Sesa Sterlite Ltd. (Rs. 268.05,-3.99%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1183.35,-3.73%), IDFC Ltd. (Rs. 131.95,-3.37%), among others. In BSE, BSE Realty index was at 1824.69 down by -49.11 points and BSE Power index was at 2166.8 down by -53.43 points The market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2632, shares advanced were 811 while 1734 shares declined and 87 were unchanged.
