Sensex rallies ahead of new government formation

The market is gearing up for Narendra Modi to be sworn in as the new PM of India. Capital goods and IT indices are in good shape with gains of over 1 percent each. However, Bankex is in red.
At 10:51 AM BSE SENSEX was at 24575.77 up by 201.37 points or by 0.83 percent and then NSE Nifty was at 7328.4 up by 52 points or by 0.71 percent. The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 345.00,+3.79%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 272.90,+3.45%), Sesa Sterlite Ltd. (Rs. 265.65,+2.53%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 157.30,+2.41%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 401.30,+2.10%), among others.
The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 152.70,-1.58%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 792.35,-1.28%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 1984.85,-0.04%), among others.
The top gainers of the NSE Nifty pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 345.55,+3.89%), IDFC Ltd. (Rs. 141.00,+3.68%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 129.70,+3.43%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 271.55,+3.09%), Sesa Sterlite Ltd. (Rs. 266.55,+2.90%), among others.
The top losers of the NSE Nifty pack were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 152.60,-1.61%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 792.05,-1.31%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 563.00,-0.79%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 1976.85,-0.50%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 890.45,-0.32%), among others. In BSE, BSE Power index was at 2257.29 up by 50.61 points and BSE_CGS index was at 14754.16 up by 289.97 points. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was positive. On BSE out of total shares traded 2592, shares advanced were 1887 while 617 shares declined and 88 were unchanged.
