Indian Rupee rises against US dollar on hopes of stable government at the
centre
The Indian rupee appreciated by 0.75 paise to Rs 58.8450 against the US dollar on Friday on expectations of stable government at the centre. Weakness of American currency against other currencies also supported the local currency. At MCXSX, USDINR for May 2014 contract traded at Rs. 58.8450 per dollar, rupee appreciated by 0.75 per cent, after opening at Rs. 59.0000 against the previous closing price of Rs. 59.2900. Rupee rose to Rs. 58.6100 per dollar with a business volume of 313428 lots till the trading. (At 01.12 PM today). At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), EURUSD future traded at US$1.3717 per euro (USD depreciated by 0.05 per cent against EUR) and GBPUSD future traded at US$1.6803 per pound (USD depreciated by 0.07 per cent against GBP) at 01.14 PM today. S&P CNX NIFTY, at NSE, was trading at 7333.25, up by 2.95 per cent, after opening at 7270.20 against the previous closing of 7123.15. It touched the intra-day high of 7563.50 till the trading. (At 01.16 PM today).
