According to a Reuters report, the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Raghuram Rajan is looking forward to working with India’s new government to stem the problem of rising prices in Asia’s third biggest economy, which has grown below the 5 per cent mark for the past few quarters. Rajan who took over as the new head of the country’s central bank in September, replacing D Subbarao hailed the Modi government’s plan to stem persistently high inflation. Rajan expects a fall in public’s inflationary expectations, going forward. The RBI is targeting to keep consumer inflation at 8 per cent by January 2015. Consumer inflation accelerated in April to 8.59 per cent, leaving little room for monetary easing.
