Sensex up on global cues

The Indian benchmark indices rose modestly, tracking firm Asian cues after minutes from the Federal Reserve's most recent meeting didn't provide any indication that an interest rate hike is imminent. Adding to investor about global growth, a preliminary HSBC survey showed that its China manufacturing PMI Index rose to 49.7 in May, a five-month high, compared with a final reading of 48.1 in April. The Indian rupee opened higher at 58.60 per dollar on hopes of continued foreign fund flows. At 10:12AM BSE SENSEX was at 24402.17 up by 104.15 points or by 0.43 percent and NSE Nifty was at 7282.25 up by 29.35 points or by 0.4 per cent.
The BSE MIDCAP was at 8488.43 up by 146.07 points or by 1.75 per cent, while the BSE SMLCAP was at 8924.43 up by 166.15 points or by 1.9 per cent. The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 2286.00,+5.43%), Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 388.00,+4.26%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 150.70,+3.33%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 2013.00,+2.75%) and Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 473.40,+2.38%).
The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 157.05,-1.60%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 799.20,-1.32%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 3115.65,-1.11%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 337.45,-0.95%) and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 933.55,-0.75%).
The top gainers of the NSE Nifty pack were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 2283.25,+5.26%), Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 388.55,+4.76%), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 199.45,+3.45%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 149.85,+2.88%) and Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 2017.60,+2.88%).
The top losers of the NSE Nifty pack were Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 3110.95,-1.46%), Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 157.85,-1.16%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1320.70,-1.15%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 2249.90,-0.93%) and HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 803.00,-0.80%).
