Markets remain flat amid Iraq woes

Market remains flat in the early trade as rising crude prices on concerns over growing instability in Iraq weighed on sentiment, offsetting investor optimism about the domestic economy. At 10:33AM BSE SENSEX was at 25617.77 up by 41.56 points or by 0.16 per cent and then NSE Nifty was at 7667.4 up by 17.5 points or by 0.23 per cent. The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 250.20,+2.46%), Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 402.10,+1.86%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1250.05,+1.84%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 852.55,+1.51%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 1737.70,+1.09%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2191.25,-1.83%), Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 166.35,-1.42%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1888.55,-0.84%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 338.70,-0.83%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 333.15,-0.57%), among others.

The top gainers of the NSE Nifty pack were Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 251.35,+3.16%), Ambuja Cements Ltd. (Rs. 232.15,+2.90%), Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 403.15,+2.09%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 2824.00,+2.00%), IDFC Ltd. (Rs. 133.80,+1.90%), among others.

The top losers of the NSE Nifty pack were Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 581.35,-2.95%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2195.15,-1.89%), Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 166.90,-1.39%), United Spirits Ltd. (Rs. 2740.10,-1.28%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 338.95,-0.89%), among others. In BSE, BSE Realty index was at 2136.53 up by 31.38 points and BSE_CGS index was at 16366.77 up by 172.29 points. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2482, shares advanced were 1452 while 951 shares declined and 79 were unchanged.
