Mid Market-Sensex strong, manufacturing activity inched up marginally

Indian benchmark indices continued to trade as Indian factory activity expanded at a slightly faster pace in May, a business survey showed. The HSBC Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI), compiled by Markit, edged up to 51.4 in May from 51.3 in April. At 12:09PM BSE SENSEX was at 24557.96 up by 340.62 points or by 1.41 per cent and NSE Nifty was at 7321.55 up by 91.6 points or by 1.27 per cent.

The BSE MIDCAP was at 8616.36 up by 149.14 points or by 1.76 per cent, while the BSE SMLCAP was at 9158.81 up by 143.08 points or by 1.59 per cent.

The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 24562.29 and intraday low of 24270.2, While the NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 7324.7 and intraday low of 7239.5. Sensex Watch The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 1640.60,+5.92%), State Bank of India (Rs. 2642.70,+3.97%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 249.30,+2.95%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1888.00,+2.82%) and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 900.00,+2.67%).

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 593.50,-1.24%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 498.85,-1.22%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 600.05,-1.21%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 337.75,-1.10%) and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2128.20,-0.75%).

Nifty Watch The top gainers of the NSE Nifty pack were Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 1644.90,+6.43%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 545.00,+4.43%), NMDC Ltd. (Rs. 176.65,+3.91%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 126.00,+3.28%) and Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (Rs. 307.20,+3.17%).

The top losers of the NSE Nifty pack were NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 157.80,-1.68%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 600.90,-1.60%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 594.55,-1.46%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 499.50,-1.32%) and ITC Ltd. (Rs. 337.85,-1.14%).
