Pre-market: Positive opening seen for markets

The 30-share benchmark index of the Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex is expected to open higher on Monday amid positive cues from most of the Asian markets. However, it could pare gains later in the day due to concerns over delayed monsoons in the country.

Among the Asian stocks, Japan’s Nikkei 225 and Singapore’s Straits Times were trading down by nearly 25 and 10 points at 15,070 and 3,261, respectively. On the other hand, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng and Taiwan Index were trading up by 55 and 66 points respectively at 23,277 and 9,373. Shanghai Composite and KOSPI were also trading in green, each up by nearly 8 points in the early trading session on Monday.

On Friday, the BSE’s SENSEX closed at 25099.92, up by 37.25 points or by 0.15 per cent and the NSE’s wide-based Nifty ended at 7508.8, up by 15.6 points or by 0.21 per cent. On BSE, total number of shares traded was 58.03 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs 3361.27 Crore.

The FIIs on 27/06/2014 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 4428.12 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 1514.23 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 4950.04 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 1014.25 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. -521.92 Crore and Rs. 499.98
