Sensex gains; GAIL, HDFC Ltd up

The Indian benchmark was trading in green in afternoon session of day's trade. Realty sector stocks were on the rise with DLF leading the pack followed by Prestige Estates Projects, Housing Development & Infrastructure, Indiabulls Real Estate and Anant Raj. Shares of IRB Infra rose on Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) after the company said it has entered into a pact with National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for an Rs 2,300 crore project for widening of a highway stretch in Haryana under National Highways Development Project (NHDP).

At 14:29PM BSE SENSEX was at 25352.57 up by 321.25 points or by 1.28 per cent and then NSE Nifty was at 7580.8 up by 87.45 points or by 1.17 per cent.

The BSE MIDCAP was at 9157.86 up by 139.79 points or by 1.55 per cent. while the BSE SMLCAP was at 9984.25 up by 167.9 points or by 1.71 per cent

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3170 , shares advanced were 2066 while 978 shares declined and 126 were unchanged

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs.458.65,+4.33 per cent), Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd.

(Rs. 992.20,+2.63 per cent), Tata Power Company Ltd. (Rs. 103.80,+2.17 per cent), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 249.60,+2.15 per cent), State Bank of India (Rs. 2653.00,+1.99 per cent), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 3210.35,-0.64 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs.629.70,-0.52 per cent), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs.435.00,-0.47 per cent), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 340.50,-0.12 per cent), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 531.00,-0.07 per cent), among others.

The top gainers of the NSE Nifty pack were DLF Ltd. (Rs. 219.80,+4.79 per cent), GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 458.50,+4.41 per cent), Bank of Baroda (Rs. 863.50,+3.40 per cent), NMDC Ltd. (Rs. 180.50,+3.11 per cent), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 572.75,+2.89 per cent), among others.

The top losers of the NSE Nifty pack were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(Rs. 879.70,-1.71 per cent), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 3199.25,-1.03 per cent), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1408.75,-0.73 per cent), Cairn India Ltd. (Rs. 372.00,-0.72 per cent), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 434.75,-0.65 per cent), among others

Among the sectoral indices on BSE, BSE Realty index was at 2076.18 up by 61.15 points or by 3.03 per cent. DLF Ltd. (Rs. 219.40,+4.73 per cent), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 226.05,+3.91 per cent), Housing Development & Infrastructure Ltd. (Rs. 91.80,+3.73 per cent), Indiabulls Real Estate Ltd. (Rs. 94.65,+3.05 per cent), Anant Raj Ltd. (Rs. 73.50,+3.01 per cent)
