Sensex opens higher, led by Power stocks

The Indian benchmark was trading in green in the early session of day's trade tracking firm global cues. Power durable sector stocks were on the rise with Thermax leading the pack followed by Siemens, Power Grid Corporation of India, CESC and Reliance Infrastructure. At 9:20AM BSE SENSEX was at 25191.32 up by 160 points or by 0.64 per cent and then NSE Nifty was at 29 down by -7464.35 points or by -99.61 per cent.
The BSE MIDCAP was at 9077.92 up by 59.85 points or by 0.66 per cent. while the BSE SMLCAP was at 9894.34 up by 77.99 points or by 0.79 per cent.
The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 1087 , shares advanced were 852 while 206 shares declined and 29 were unchanged
The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were ITC Ltd. (Rs. 319.10,+1.61 per cent), GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 446.05,+1.47 per cent), Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 979.40,+1.31 per cent), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 247.35,+1.23 per cent), Tata Power Company Ltd. (Rs. 102.80,+1.18 per cent), among others.
The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 615.70,-0.25 per cent), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 530.35,-0.19 per cent), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 3225.00,-0.19 per cent), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2262.40,-0.10 per cent), among others
Among the sectoral indices on BSE, BSE Power index was at 2227.17 up by 23.85 points or by 1.08 per cent. Thermax Ltd. (Rs. 961.70,+1.51 per cent), Siemens Ltd. (Rs. 898.65,+1.31 per cent), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 133.35,+1.29 per cent), CESC Ltd. (Rs. 614.80,+1.28 per cent), Reliance Infrastructure Ltd. (Rs. 715.10,+1.26 per cent)
