Sensex remains positive; bank, auto stocks decline

The markets remained subdued during the morning session of trade with a positive bias amid profit booking in banks and auto sectors. Sensex rose 18 points to 25568.16 and the Nifty was up 8 points to 7632.5. Further, weak cues from Asian peers also weighed on the sentiments of the investors. Moreover, the investors will keep an eye on corporate earnings results of India's largest software exporter TCS which is scheduled to unveil its result today.

At 10:10AM BSE SENSEX was at 25568.16, up by 18.44 points or by 0.07 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was at 7632.5, up by 8.1 points or by 0.11 per cent.

The BSE MIDCAP was at 9226.04, up by 60.12 points or by 0.66 per cent, while the BSE SMLCAP was at 10130.74, up by 73.37 points or by 0.73 per cent.

The BSE Sensex touched an intraday high of 25610.47 and an intraday low of 25520.61, while the NSE Nifty touched an intraday high of 7643.6 and an intraday low of 7612.7.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Cipla Ltd. (Rs. 439.80,+1.85%), Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 371.45,+1.70%), Sesa Sterlite Ltd. (Rs. 301.60,+1.67%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 3280.00,+1.57%), Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 183.50,+1.02%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1185.70,-2.82%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 409.20,-1.66%), State Bank of India (Rs. 2545.70,-1.07%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 2557.00,-0.79%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1448.30,-0.74%), among others.

Among the sectors, In BSE, BSE_CDS index was at 8511.25 up by 105.15 points or by 1.25%. TTK Prestige Ltd. (Rs. 3605.00,+3.16%), PC Jeweller Ltd. (Rs. 120.95,+3.11%), Rajesh Exports Ltd. (Rs. 172.65,+2.58%), Whirlpool of India Ltd. (Rs. 328.00,+2.28%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 331.85,+1.36%),.

On the flip side, In BSE, BSE Auto index was at 15677.99 down by -63.52 points or by -0.4%. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1185.70,-2.82%), Apollo Tyres Ltd. (Rs. 184.85,-1.41%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 2557.00,-0.79%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 468.60,-0.37%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was positive. On BSE out of total 2029 shares traded, 1254 shares advanced, 701 shares declined while 74 remained unchanged.
