M-cap of top -10 Sensex firms up Rs 68,518 cr

According to data from the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the combined market capitalization of top ten Sensex companies rose by Rs 68,518 crore last week led by hefty gains in ITC and HDFC Bank. FMCG giant ITC witnessed a rise of Rs 10,758.69 crore in its market valuation to Rs 265,140.69 crore last week. Private sector lender HDFC Bank’s market capitalization jumped by Rs 10,565.07 crore to Rs 206,183.07 crore last week, while that of oil major ONGC climbed Rs 9,283.13 crore to Rs 360,956.13 crore in the same period. India’s leading private sector bank ICICI Bank posted an Rs 9,139.94 crore rise in its market value to Rs 169,060.94 crore last week. The market capitalization of Coal India climbed by Rs 7,517.34 crore to Rs 248,896.34 crore last week, while that of Larsen & Toubro surged Rs 7,188.27 crore to Rs 161,644.27 crore. The market value of RIL climbed by Rs 6,192.97 crore to Rs 333,599.97 crore last week while that of SBI surged Rs 4,651.81 crore to Rs 2,01,503.81 crore. IT majors TCS and Infosys witnessed an Rs 2,233.27 crore and Rs 987.71 crore rise in their market cap, respectively, last week. The Sensex advanced by 862.14 points or 3.43 per cent last week to 25,962.06 as investors remained hopeful over the outcome of the union budget.
