Sebi chief seeks state govt help to curb “dabba trading”

Capital market regulator Sebi, Chairman, U K Sinha on Monday sought cooperation of the state governments to control unauthorised deposit schemes by conducting concerted investor awareness programmes and imparting training to the officials. Speaking at the 27th Conference of the State Finance Secretaries, he suggested that states should enact depositors’ investor protection act and strengthen the enforcement mechanism. Informing about some recent changes in the SEBI Act to control unauthorised deposit schemes, he further sought co-operation of the state governments in curbing “dabba trading”.
