Need to create position of “Chief Learning Officer” in banks: RBI

The Reserve Bank of India committee on capacity building in banks and non-banks has suggested that there is need to create position of “Chief Learning Officer” in banks and concept of return on learning.
The panel, chaired by G Gopalakrishna, former Executive Director, RBI, has made exhaustive recommendations after examination of feedback received from the banking industry, inputs from member-experts, academicians and various training institutions.
The committee also stressed on approach to capacity building in banks and non-banks. The other key recommendations of the report include enhancing human resources management practices. It also called for coaching and mentoring including mentoring programme for Top Management of banks.
The panel also proposed to set up a centre of excellence for leadership development in banking sector
