US sees huge potential for Indo-US trade: Reports

According to media reports, a US official reckons that there is a huge scope for increasing bi-lateral trade between India and the US, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi gets ready for his maiden US visit this month.
US Foreign Commercial Service's newly-appointed Principal Commercial Officer (PCO) Matthew Hilgendorf on Monday reportedly said that Indo-US trade was poised for exciting times amid the existence of immense opportunities of cooperation between the world’s biggest economy, and Asia’s third biggest economy.
“This is an exciting time of trade between India and the US... There is a huge possibility of increasing bi-lateral trade between the two countries. Economies are huge and so the opportunities of cooperation are endless," Hilgendorf said, the PTI reported.
Hilgendorf, who is on his first visit to India, stressed that India and the US have the opportunity to collaborate on almost all segments amid the huge size of their respective economies. US existing home sales plunge in Aug “We will be concentrating on the north-eastern region of India. We want to support the development in areas such as mining, transportation, energy, manufacturing and some services where the US can have an important impact in this region”, he added, the PTI reported.
The comments come ahead of Prime Minster Modi’s visit to the US this week which is seen as crucial to strengthening the relationship between India and the US.
