Markets drifts lower in early trade

Indian shares declined modestly in the early trade as investors continue to take profits off the table after recent surge. The rupee opened lower despite encouraging data showing a sharp fall in India's current account deficit for the January-March period. The Asian bourses are trading mostly lower, erasing early gains.
At 10:15AM BSE SENSEX was at 24520.89 down by 195.99 points or by 0.79 percent and then NSE Nifty was at 7325.6 down by 33.45 points or by 0.45 percent.
The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 515.55,+2.18%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 3145.65,+1.67%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2178.00,+1.13%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 2317.55,+0.71%), Cipla Ltd. (Rs. 385.00,+0.57%), among others.
The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 384.60,-6.21%), Sesa Sterlite Ltd. (Rs. 266.35,-4.60%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 247.85,-4.45%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 391.70,-3.34%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1189.50,-3.32%), among others.
The top gainers of the NSE Nifty pack were HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1420.95,+2.51%), Lupin Ltd. (Rs. 926.60,+1.89%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 515.35,+1.85%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 3138.00,+1.39%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 2265.00,+1.28%), among others.
The top losers of the NSE Nifty pack were GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 389.05,-5.14%), Sesa Sterlite Ltd. (Rs. 268.00,-4.01%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 393.15,-3.00%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1194.80,-2.79%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 251.95,-2.78%), among others. In BSE, BSE Realty index was at 1817.79 down by -56.01 points and BSE_PSU index was at 8256.47 down by -243.82 points. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2108, shares advanced were 742 while 1302 shares declined and 64 were unchanged.
