Sensex opens higher, led by Power stocks

The Indian benchmark was trading in green in the early session of day’s trade. Power sector stocks were on the rise with Reliance Infrastructure leading the pack followed by PTC India, Jaiprakash Power Ventures, Reliance Power and Bharat Heavy Electricals. At 9:40AM BSE SENSEX was at 25388.19 up by 19.29 points or by 0.08 per cent and then NSE Nifty was at 7579.3 down by -0.9 points or by -0.01 per cent.
The BSE MIDCAP was at 9221.32 up by 60.14 points or by 0.66 per cent. while the BSE SMLCAP was at 10028.12 up by 50.41 points or by 0.51 per cent
The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 1632 , shares advanced were 1059 while 517 shares declined and 56 were unchanged
The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 2268.15,+2.14 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 447.90,+1.30 per cent), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 253.30,+1.16 per cent), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 156.50,+0.97 per cent), GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 463.00,+0.73 per cent), among others.
The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were ITC Ltd. (Rs. 316.90,-1.09 per cent), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 337.45,-1.03 per cent), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1428.00,-0.74 per cent), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1916.50,-0.42 per cent), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1055.40,-0.40 per cent), among others.
The top gainers of the NSE Nifty pack were GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 466.35,+1.49 per cent), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1433.00,+1.20 per cent), NMDC Ltd. (Rs. 182.40,+0.94 per cent), Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 394.90,+0.87 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 2009.25,+0.74 per cent), among others.
The top losers of the NSE Nifty pack were Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 576.50,-1.07 per cent), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 337.75,-0.94 per cent), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 217.30,-0.87 per cent), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1426.95,-0.86 per cent), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 318.20,-0.72 per cent), among others
Among the sectoral indices on BSE, BSE Power index was at 2264.59 up by 16.63 points or by 0.74 per cent. Reliance Infrastructure Ltd. (Rs. 746.00,+2.20 per cent), PTC India Ltd.
