Markets in red amid weak global cues

The markets continued to trade in the negative zone owing to the weakness in financials and power shares. Weak cues from the Asian peers further weighed on the sentiments of the investors. Sensex was trading down by 34 points, weighed by selling pressure in index heavyweights including Tata Power, Hindalco, BHEL, Coal India, Bajaj Auto and NTPC among others. Tracking the momentum, the 50-share Nifty index was now trading down by 18 points, weighed down by losses in banks, capital goods, realty, power and capital goods stocks.
At 10:22AM BSE SENSEX was at 25505.55 down by 55.61 points or by 0.22 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was at 7622.35 down by 18.1 points or by 0.24 per cent.
The BSE MIDCAP was at 9257.46, down by 34.23 points or by 0.37 per cent while the BSE SMLCAP was at 10156.72, down by 36.4 points or by 0.36 per cent.
The BSE Sensex touched an intraday high of 25570.85 and an intraday low of 25441.24, while the NSE Nifty touched an intraday high of 7634.6 and an intraday low of 7595.5. The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2469.15,+3.70%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 552.20,+2.67%), Cipla Ltd. (Rs. 442.30,+1.18%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 2468.15,+0.97%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 3262.80,+0.60%), among others.
The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 184.00,-2.52%), Tata Power Company Ltd. (Rs. 105.95,-2.40%), Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 367.00,-2.32%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 237.90,-2.12%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 2053.70,-1.82%), among others.
Among the sectors, In BSE, BSE_IT index was at 9459.8 up by 191.76 points or by 2.07%. Persistent Systems Ltd. (Rs. 1380.00,+4.72%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2469.15,+3.70%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 552.20,+2.67%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1500.00,+2.30%), MindTree Ltd. (Rs. 897.15,+1.86%),. On the flip side, In BSE, BSE_PSU index was at 8187.98 down by -121.45 points or by -1.46%. Rural Electrification Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 314.00,-3.49%), Union Bank of India (Rs. 197.45,-2.81%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 396.95,-2.68%), UCO Bank (Rs. 101.30,-2.60%), Syndicate Bank (Rs. 152.70,-2.55%),. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares 2057 traded, 855 shares advanced, 1131 shares declined while 71 remained unchanged.
