Kerala clears Rs 1,200 cr Taurus India project

According to media reports, the Kerala cabinet on Wednesday gave the green signal to the Rs 1,200 crore IT investment project in Technopark Phase III. The project is sponsored by Taurus India.
The Chief Minister of the state of Kerala Oommen Chandy said that the state government has agreed to give 9.73 acres of land to the project under the non-SEZ category and 10 acres under SEZ category, and that the land will be allotted under a 90-year lease realising Rs 5 crore per acre.
Taurus India gave thumbs up to the Kerala cabinet’s decision of giving the go ahead to the proposed project. The company said that it will start initial work on the project once it receives the Letter of Intent.
"The company will begin setting up its South Asia office in a month's time, in Thiruvananthapuram. The MoU between Kerala Government and Taurus is expected to be signed within three months. We are aiming for the formal launch of the project, named 'Taurus Downtown Technopark', in February 2015," Ajay Prasad, Managing Director of Taurus India, the PTI reported.
The investment proposal by Taurus Investment Holdings LLC, Boston, USA, aims to develop nearly 32 lakh square feet of IT SEZ and non-SEZ space in Technopark.
