Markets maintain momentum; IT, FMCG stocks support

The key domestic benchmark indices continued to trade in the positive terrain with the Sensex up 155 points during the noon trading session. Tracking the momentum, the 50-share Nifty index also managed to reclaim its crucial psychological level of 8050, supported by gains in realty, IT, FMCG and auto stocks. Meanwhile, shares of Dr. Reddy slipped nearly 2 per cent after the pharma major reported a net profit of Rs 574 crore, down 16.8 per cent YoY for the quarter ended September 30.
At 1:22PM BSE SENSEX was at 27036.29 up by 155.47 points or by 0.58 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was at 8065.35 up by 37.75 points or by 0.47 per cent.
The BSE MIDCAP was at 9649.19, up by 48.79 points or by 0.51 per cent, while the BSE SMLCAP was at 10796.04, up by 71.98 points or by 0.67 per cent.
The BSE Sensex touched an intraday high of 27062.12 and an intraday low of 26971.16, while the NSE Nifty touched an intraday high of 8081.05 and an intraday low of 8052.25.
The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 154.55,+4.53%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 523.80,+2.99%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1307.00,+2.61%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 3860.00,+1.74%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 949.70,+1.68%), among others.
The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 3026.90,-1.74%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 252.20,-1.12%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 404.70,-0.92%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 832.45,-0.81%), GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 491.75,-0.76%), among others.
Among the sectors, In BSE, BSE Auto index was at 18244.88 up by 302.45 points or by 1.69%. Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 523.80,+2.99%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1307.00,+2.61%), Eicher Motors Ltd. (Rs. 12569.90,+1.60%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 3079.35,+1.47%), Cummins India Ltd. (Rs. 722.90,+1.19%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2938 , shares advanced were 1552 while 1281 shares declined and 105 were unchanged.
