Sensex surges; Hindalco, Tata Motors up

The Indian benchmark was trading in green in afternoon session of day’s trade. Realty sector stocks were on the rise with DLF leading the pack followed by Sobha, D B Realty, Indiabulls Real Estate and Unitech. Shares of SRF rose on Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) after reporting a strong 61 per cent year-on-year (yoy) jump in net profit at Rs 76.85 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2014 (Q2), aided by better sales realizations. The company engaged in the manufacturer of chemical-based industrial intermediates had profit of Rs 47.77 crore during the same quarter a year ago. At 14:37 PM BSE SENSEX was at 27036.39 up by 155.57 points or by 0.58 per cent and then NSE Nifty was at 8067.15 up by 39.55 points or by 0.49 per cent.

The BSE MIDCAP was at 9635.14 up by 34.74 points or by 0.36 per cent. while the BSE SMLCAP was at 10805.47 up by 81.41 points or by 0.76 per cent

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 155.30,+5.04 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 524.00,+3.03 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1310.70,+2.90 per cent), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 469.50,+2.29 per cent), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 949.75,+1.68 per cent), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 3021.00,-1.94 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 828.00,-1.34 per cent), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 252.45,-1.02 per cent), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 405.00,-0.84 per cent), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 146.65,-0.78 per cent), among others.

The top gainers of the NSE Nifty pack were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 154.85,+4.84 per cent), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 116.20,+4.40 per cent), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (Rs. 155.60,+3.35 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 523.55,+2.93 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1310.05,+2.56 per cent), among others.

The top losers of the NSE Nifty pack were Punjab National Bank (Rs. 902.00,-2.13 per cent), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 3026.05,-1.79 per cent), Bank of Baroda (Rs. 903.40,-1.77 per cent), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 252.40,-1.14 per cent), IDFC Ltd. (Rs. 144.60,-0.96 per cent), among others

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3070 , shares advanced were 1581 while 1366 shares declined and 123 were unchanged

Among the sectoral indices on BSE, BSE Realty index was at 1480.88 up by 43.88 points or by 3.05 per cent. DLF Ltd. (Rs. 118.65,+6.60 per cent), Sobha Ltd.
