Markets remain firm; auto stocks rally

The key domestic benchmark indices remained firm supported by a rally in auto stocks and a rebound in information technology shares. According to the analysts, optimism over the country’s economic outlook continues to boost sentiment of the investors. However, expects some volatility to be seen in the Sensex as traders roll over the positions ahead of the F&O October contract expiry tomorrow, while caution ahead of Fed decision may also curb gains. Further the investors will keep an eye on the stock of Dr Reddy as it reports its September quarter earnings.

At 10:07AM BSE SENSEX was at 27057.19, up by 176.37 points or by 0.66 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was at 8070.85, up by 43.25 points or by 0.54 per cent.

The BSE MIDCAP was at 9666.46, up by 66.06 points or by 0.69 per cent, while the BSE SMLCAP was at 10830.35, up by 106.29 points or by 0.99 per cent.

The BSE Sensex touched an intraday high of 27062.12 and an intraday low of 26991.03, while the NSE Nifty touched an intraday high of 8081.05 and an intraday low of 8059.25.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 519.90,+2.22%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1295.00,+1.66%), Cipla Ltd. (Rs. 654.40,+1.39%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 3076.00,+1.36%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 3835.00,+1.08%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Sesa Sterlite Ltd. (Rs. 248.45,-0.72%), GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 492.45,-0.62%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 253.75,-0.51%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 457.00,-0.44%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 147.30,-0.34%), among others.

In BSE, BSE Auto index was at 18171.32 up by 228.89 points or by 1.28%. Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 519.90,+2.22%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1295.00,+1.66%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2049 , shares advanced were 1409 while 558 shares declined and 82 were unchanged.
